I was just perusing the record check archive and it got me inspired to put one together. Kinda surprising how different the digging game is these days. Looking back on those old posts it seems it was all rare breaks and reggae 7″s mixed in with dirty south singles. You’re not going to find much of that here. Mostly weird italo records and the odd house tune…
This was one of those records that I probably found by surfing around Youtube for a few hours. Took me awhile to finally find it on ebay for the right price. These dudes are better known for their first single “Girls On Me”, but “Suicidal” is just a better tune in my opinion. Serious italo bomb.
Classic tune from Arthur Russell and Nicky Siano. The extended version just kills it. And the David Byrne guitar action is the icing on the cake.
Joe Smooth – The Promised Land
Joe Smooth had a huge hit with this one in the UK. The video for this is awesome. Unfortunately the Style Council decided to make a cover version and release it at the same time taking the number one away from Joe.
Liasons Dangerouses – Los Niños Del Parque
Snackmaster brought this one to my attention. Germans singing in Spanish, nice and lo-fi.
Panache – Get Down! (To The Sweet Music)
Everyone knows Panache for their cut “Every Brother Ain’t A Brother” which Shadow sampled for Latyrx’s “Lady Don’t Tek No“. Don’t know how I managed to get this for as little as I did. Sorry no Youtube.
Really like this for the flip though. Jamaica Running is on some future rhythm ish.
Rolling Stones – Too Much Blood
Sweet video, but it’s all about the Dub Version from none other than Arthur Baker.
