This Summer Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow worked on one of the greatest projects in Hip Hop history. They were given access to the now Cornell archived vinyl collection from Hip Hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa and cherry picked rare acetates, unreleased demos, and anything else they knew was great for a tour based around the records. Along the way they also compiled fantastic original drawings, fliers, and other ephemera of the period to make the companion book shown below. Pick up the mix pressed on vinyl and the book now at Turntable Lab.

Our childhood dreams are finally coming true. Goonies is one of the greatest adventure films of all time and in my opinion one of Spielberg’s masterpieces. Watching this countless times as a youth I always wanted some adventure like this to happen but being land locked in South Texas it seemed like that sh*t just wasn’t gonna happen. Plus I was way more chunk than I was Mikey.
All I was left to was my imagination and that’s cool and all but it always helped to have some sort of catalyst. Like, I had a ton of Ninja Turtles but no goddamn Goonies. Now that all comes to an end. This weekend is me, Sloth, and Data going ham.
Pick up these limited edition Goonies action figures today!
