Korg Monotribe – Available Now!

after months of anticipation and hype, the Korg Monotribe is finally here! this ribbon controlled analog synth features a vintage MS-10/20 filter, internal analog drums, and an 8-step sequencer in an affordable (considering how expensive vintage synths go for), compact unit (8.15 x 5.71 x 2.76 inches) – below is Snack(and synth)master’s post from a few months ago announcing the release:

Korg is bringing back the days of analog in a major way with the upcoming Monotribe. after the huge success of the Monotron, this takes the idea of a ribbon controlled analog synth even further with classic analog compontents (for WAY more sound shaping control), vintage MS-10/20 filter, internal analog drums, AND an 8 step sequencer. talk about a no brainer! No MIDI on it, but you can link several Monotribes together (and other equipment) via the sync jacks and jam out. check the videos below to see this bad boy in action:

Attention New York City Hip-Hop fans! On July 14th The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival edition of Salute The DJ will pay tribute to the legacy of Mr.Magic. Fans can expect a “Rap Attack Live” showcase by Marley Marl and special guests: Keith Murray Masta Ace, Craig G, Roxanne Shante, Force MD’s and Grandmaster Caz of the Cold Crush Brothers; a special performance by the inventor of the Scratch, Grand Wizzard Theodore; turntablist sets by Mista Sinista, Roli Rho and Getlive; party rocking by Twilite Tone and rare grooves by Chairman Mao of EgoTrip. Attendees can expect a night with never before seen combination sets with some of the most influential DJs in the scene.

The deadline for entry is July 13, 2011. Only one entry per person. The winner will receive his prize on stage at the event!

Friday we’re celebrating my dude’s birthday at a cool low-key spot in Williamsburg called Cantina Royal. The place has a lot of history as they used to throw parties with Rub-N-Tug and some of the DFA dudes at the same spot all the time back in the day. Some real hot and sweaty memorable jump-offs from what i hear. Myself, Lloydski and WooHoo will be carrying on the tradition playing all kinds of dope dance music til’ pretty late so come out and set your weekend off right kids!
