SUPER VIRAL BROTHERS
On Tuesday night we had Sweden’s SUPER VIRAL BROTHERS come by the Scion Radio Party at Plan B here in NYC to play their US debut. Although just a “dj set” they tore the room down with a sound I still can’t describe. They’re almost like Sa-Ra meets Justice, but saying that would be an injustice to their originality. The beats provided by Dadalife’s Olle are on some super electronic, hard shit as are the futuristic vocals from Akron Ohio’s Anthony Mills. I first got introduced to the duo via this mix they have floating around the Internet called THE FLU SHOT. Right off the bat you get hit with a remake of Aphex’s Window Licker. I know that sounds sacrilegious but it works. Olle said he choose beats that were futuiristic in their own time for Anthony to stream of conscious all over. They also said they wrote, recorded and mixed the entire thing in just one day (definitely not Hardy Time). If you check out their MySpace the individual tracks are also available for download. I asked the duo a couple questions (ala Michna style) here they are (quite cerebral answers boys!). Q: What three things would you say have the most influence on your work currently? A: Things noticed. smell memories. physical indurance. Q: How do you survive the darkness of the Scandinavian Winter? A: enjoy every precious detail Sweden is overflowing with. Q: How did you two meet and begin working on music? A: We met through Photographer Martin Adolfsson.....and actually started by bartering studio time for vocal stylings. Q: What projects should people be looking for from you in the upcoming year? A: Super Viral Brothers Wires in Love. Wild Cookie "drugs" EP. Gorilla Milk. TONIGHT THEY’LL BE DOING A FULL ON LIVE SET @ DANCE CLASS, COME HELP THEM MAKE HISTORY… SHOW TIME 12 MIDNIGHT!!! FREE AS ALWAYS!!!!
