Acid Haus also kills it with their new line. Last but not least, have you checked out all the original deadstock Mowax releases we've been getting in? roctakon's finished cd is here in time for WMC... will be putting on the site after we get back. we'll also have the newest money lotion featuring roc + eli... special silkscreen covers for this one... as for roc's cd, he definitely went super-personal... going as far as writing a mini-treatise on being a club dj on the back cover... i'm pretty satisfied how the artwork came out... i was going for the early 90s house vibe slashed with 80s punk black and white...

Queens, 1980. My dad's band Babe (yep, named after the Styx song) was playing four nights a week in Jersey City (he is about my age then). Their lead singer Edwin has a magical singing voice with an uncanny resemblance to that of Christopher Cross. The band decides to run with it and covers "Ride Like the Wind" and "Never Be the Same" which become some of their biggest crowd-pleasers. My sister and I are in the back covering our ears.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the support of our new record. I'm always checking the box score of vinyl page, never thought we'd be in the top three! As a bonus, here's the original promo art that Snack made for our release. Too bad it never made it as a pic sleeve, that would have been awesome. I'm such a sucker for retro airbrush art.
Also, if you love the funk, we'll be throwing records all over the place tonight in Williamsburg. Come warm up with some whiskey, then your legs on the dancefloor! Hope to C Ya there

NEW LAB RADIO (click box, duh!) This month my guests were…
U-TERN If you read this blog and your not familiar with this dude yet something wrong with you. U-Tern is another one of those can’t do anything wrong guys. His remixes are above and beyond almost everything I hear, his blog is teeming with daily disco downloads and his radio show is one of the most popular on Brooklyn Radio. So needless to say there are a million ways to check out U-Tern but I think you should listen to him here because he killed it. Plus Canadians always give the best interview, right?
SNACK N C’MISH Ever wondered how they got the names Snack & C’Mish? Well I’m not 100% sure why Matt is the Commissioner, but I know that ‘Snack’ is short for ‘Snack Master.’ He got this moniker because when we used to all work in the office together we would always have a snack break around 5pm. On these outings it seemed that no matter what I bought, how much money I spent or how much I planned I was always jealous Jay’s selection, so he was the ‘Snack Master.’ Nowadays I’m more jealous of these guy’s beats. Have you heard their new 12” on Supra? I’ve been playing it non-stop for three months now and everything I’ve been hearing from them is this good (where’s those emo-beats at Snack?). We switched radio shows this month, I did a weirdo Black Valentines mix for their Brooklyn Radio show and they dropped Disco bombs all over mine. Don’t forget you can now listen to the show on iTunes... iTunes → Radio → Dance → Turntable Lab LA Radio I’m djing in PHILLY for the first time ever this FRIDAY. So if you’re around please come say hi…
Speaking of Philly I didn’t wanna do this but fuck it…

I
was in Japan last week hanging out with Roger Yamaha, seeing the sights, and DJing
a little bit. It was my first time going over there and it 100% lived up to the
hype - if you have a chance, go. The best part might have been the food - everything
was incredible but chicken
sashimi was the big surprise for me. ![]() The Tsujiki fish market starts at 5 AM and they sell 20 million dollars worth of fish (2000 tons) every day. We got up early and went to the tuna auctions. ![]() Kango & Roger Yamaha played with me at the Vice Party. ![]() Veronika at the Emperor's Palace, Kyoto. This place was the home to the emperors for 1000 years and burned down every 5 years or so. They finally banned fireworks in Kyoto after the last time it burned down. In Kyoto we stayed in a traditional Ryokan and slept on bedrolls on the floor. The propietor wore a kimono and full makeup, it was kind of nuts. This truck reminded me of Tampopo. ![]() Mount Fuji, as seen from the Shinkansin bullet train. ![]() Kyoto - Kiyomizu-dera Temple ![]() Tokyo at night. After 3 days in Kyoto I had gotten over a lot of the initial culture shock so Tokyo was a little bit of a letdown. "OK the entire city looks like Time Square and it's really busy, cool." But as we went around the city it crept up on us how crazy it is there. ![]() Yukio & Tomokazu from Vice Japan, Yas, his girl, and Paul P.O.L. Style took us out to eat every night and every restaurant was a banger. ![]() Fresh wasabi Eating sushi in NY now feels a little like going from Peter Lugers to McDonalds. Yes I know how obnoxious that sounds but it's true. We brought back a ton of Totoro souvenirs from the Ghibli Museum ![]() Ha ha ha ha ha, check out the bazaar... More pictures here Now I'm back and Flashing Lights is at Studio B this Friday with special guests Mixhell (ex Sepultura drummer Iggor Cavalera and his wife and producer Laima Leyton) from Brazil doing a live DJ / drum set. It's really a crazy show; for an introduction check out this clip on Youtube. And we have Fool's Gold records' Nacho Lovers on the set - listen to Fistfight from Nacho Lovers on this month's Rub Radio. Plus me, Nick Catchdubs, and Jubilee. RSVP at the Flashing Lights website to get it for cheap.

Nak, thank you very much for helping me try and find gucci mane mixtapes in the store. your supervisor must have been out galavanting around at mogador's leaving you to a mimosa'd up stackswell wanting chris brown's "critical beatdown" mixtape. so i'm no designer, but here's a flyer i did for this past weekend that i actually liked. you can't tell but the pic of sanders is a layered halftone, and the background is an asthetically pleasing green to the tune of the right hand side of the blog here. and in other news, i finally broke my original iphone by dropping it [drunk again] for the last time on the street [at 11am] fumbling with records. i [yo!] bum rushed the apple store at 8am on saturday and they gave me a new 3g jawn as if they knew i knew boy genius. now i can upload food photos faster for king moist. special shout out to control record stickers for arrows n' shit
