NEW LAB RADIO (click box, duh!) This month my guests were… Blaqstarr
When we went to record this session at Plan B, I sent out an email saying that Blaq and I were playing that night. Strangely enough Kweli is on my email list and hit me back right away saying something like “tell him to give me back my name, JKing.” Blaq’s response? “Tell him great minds think alike.” Than last weekend in SF my boy Smerv was telling me how Mos had put him onto Blaqstarr and how much he was praising him. Ok that was a bit of a tangent, but I always wondered what those guys thought of Blaqstarr using the name and I thought some of you might also. Did you know that this guy has over 1000 songs just chilling on his hard drives? He played a whole bunch of shit and than we talked about B-More, his production set-up and his sound. Definitely one of my favorite dudes in the game right now and his set and interview only further solidified that for me. Prince Language
Where the fuck has this guy been hiding? I took Mr. IncogNegroClash away from working on an MGMT remix for this segment. We talked about the good old days at the Lab, the Good Wolrd with Rich Medina, upcoming edits, what it’s like to know the DFA and the general downfall of modern civilization. His DJ set was what you’d expect of a Prince, Royal Jewelz. I guess the kids alright, cause he’s got a studio in the same building as Ronson. Don’t forget you can now listen to the show on iTunes... iTunes → Radio → Dance → Turntable Lab LA Radio While in the radio zone I should mention this movie I saw last night TALK TO ME about legendary DC radio DJ Petey Greene. I think Lloyd posted a clip of him demonstrating how to eat watermelon, this guys is the real deal!
