my first 1200
AYRES

what was your first turntable / setup?
It was a Realistic Belt Drive in 1995 I think.

at what point did you get your first technics turntable(s)?
1996

did you get the 1200(s) from a store? how did you get the money to pay for the 1200(s)?
I got a Japanese 1210 from Rock and Soul Electronics for around $500 probably. My roommate had a 1200 and we shared a setup so I didn't get my second 1200 until 1999. That one I brought from Turntable Lab's first "warehouse" (more like a closet), in Chinatown, from Jasper.

how did you feel when you got your first technics turntable(s)?
I was so stoked! It felt really substantial, heavy and shiny.

what is your favorite feature or aspect of the technics turntable?
I still have both of them, so my favorite thing is that they are solid as a rock.
