Man, I remember when I first worked my way into the Lab (intern status of course).

One of the first cats that I had to report to was Blu Jemz, back when he was reppin pro squad, and I just remember laughing at the time that dude sized up my "native-NYC-playa" status just based on my hair cut.

Jemz is doing the thing. Can't hate on that at all.

In honor of opening day let us take a look back at former major league pitcher Dock Ellis. Dock's career spanned the years 1968-1979, he played for 5 teams (including both NY teams), had 138 career victories, won comeback player of the year in 1976 and most impressively threw a no hitter against the Padres on June 12, 1970 while "tripping balls".

Here's what Dock had to say about his LSD induced hitless victory:
"I can only remember bits and pieces of the game. I was psyched. I had a feeling of euphoria. I was zeroed in on the (catcher's) glove, but I didn't hit the glove too much. I remember hitting a couple of batters and the bases were loaded two or three times. The ball was small sometimes, the ball was large sometimes, sometimes I saw the catcher, sometimes I didn't. Sometimes I tried to stare the hitter down and throw while I was looking at him. I chewed my gum until it turned to powder. They say I had about three to four fielding chances. I remember diving out of the way of a ball I thought was a line drive. I jumped, but the ball wasn't hit hard and never reached me."
