Chicago's Sloppy White is now offering up his out-of-print mix CDs as mpfrees on his website sloppywhite.com. If you're a fan of heavy '80s and early '90s rap - Tuff Crew, Black Rock & Ron, Supreme Force, etc, this is kind of a no-brainer. These mixes have gotten rave reviews from folks like Monk One, The Ivory Brothers, Egon, and Turntable Lab.

Ok, you guys know I don't usually shill for stuff on the blog, but this is a good one. Harris Newman has a new album out (well, kinda new - September '07) and it's totally hitting the spot right now during these winter doldrums. Smoky folky acoustic guitar raga type stuff with hits of Fahey, Kottke and Jansch. Harris is an old amigo of mine from Montreal who does audio mastering, plays in a group called Triple Burner with Godspeed You! Black Emperor / Silver Mt. Zion members, and is usually riding a bike when I see him. Anyway, if you gotta save up your pennies for the whole album, you can still go over to Harris' MySpace and download my favorite track, "Anamnesis," for FREE. Totally unrelated: our dance music queen, Ms. Alison Tara, is spinning this Sunday in TOKYO (!) so go out and show her some love. Here are details:
P.S. Gaslamp - Palmer Scott is that dude. Check this shit out:

Touché James... Indeed, you did post that Cory clip a day before me. I guess I need to change my home page back to the Lab Blog... Regarding the flyer thing; I pulled up some of the old parties we collaborated on, and come to find out, I have, in fact been trying to hold your DJ career down. I think, subliminally, it's my jealous feelings towards your late night Hollywood lifestyle... and for that, I truly apologize.
(and yes, I know someone did another faux Coachella flyer like a year ago thats much funnier than this one, thanks.) PS. Here's a link to another flyer. Unfortunately, Jemz isn't headlining, but with any luck, ladies, he'll be there. Oh, and for the record, Jemz was my favorite lab personality of 2007, but with all the whining, I've decided to rank him below Pitts.

San Diego Chargers - DO NOT FEEL BAD! You just got beat by the best team in NFL history. (And you still have a pretty dope theme song.) Now only two weeks til the Pats march down to Arizona or wherever and humble the New York Football Giants. I heard Belichick requested a Highlander-esque stipulation wherein he gets to behead Tom Coughlin at midfield and absorb his powers if (when) New England wins. Oh, and the Oscar goes to...

Spotlight: The Netherland DJ School. Netherlands is cool. It's quaint with windmills, cheese, clogs, Amsterdam(the land of dro & hoes), the world's most insane disco collectors and... DJ School! First off, I believe this is a mixing school, (that doesn't look like a scratch mixer to me). Almost half the student roster are women and it's actually next to a DJ Hotel where each room is accomodated with a DJ setup. Coming from dirt-ass Brooklyn, this just seems unreal.
Man, I miss traveling. Gotta get back to Europe and gig in Amsterdeez real soon. Blackjoy, Snackmaster, Blu Jemz...who's with me?

THE SAGA CONTINUES…
The Parrot/Aoki beef has gotten so real that the LA TIMES is now reporting on it. I hope I’m not coming off as showing ill will towards Aoki by spreading this story, because to be honest he’s a really nice guy. I just think the ARAB PARROT’S comedy style is so genius I want to do as much as possible to blow him up (to be fair Aoki’s retorts in the article were also amusing). The thing we can all learn from this battle royal is to stop taking our selves so damn serious in ‘08 (a crime neither of these two are guilty of). I mean even JUSTICE admitted they take most of their inspiration from SPINAL TAP, so why can’t you? This is coming from the guy who has people come up to him in clubs and give him hi-5’s while saying “Go Lohan!” I don't care, I just role with it. Who's to blame for all this seriousness?
I get hyped every time these guy’s come thru cause it means I get a chance to hang with…

Nike's new ad campaign for its new Mercurial boots is pretty crazy. Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Bugatti Veyron! Speaking of the new Mercurial's, check out Ronaldo using them here: I know this is old now, but if you haven't seen it, Ronaldo pulls a hat trick out of 6 goals. Do English people even call this a hat trick? Check out his magic on the first set piece goal... Add this to the great weekend of sports. Eff the Pitt Panthers, G'Town will crush you later. AND... IT IS SO ON IN '08... I've put up links to my man ARAB PARROT's site before, but he has taken it so next level that I had to let you know (read the whole post). IT'S OK TO HATE IN '08!!! You know what's getting out of hand? Niggas taking pictures at parties to post on the internet. Believe it or not there was a time when if you missed the party, you missed the fuckin party. What happened to the mystery of night life? I mean some pics are cool, but after a while just stop. I feel like the more photos the worse the party. Who has time to take photos when you're partying? I don't even take my camera out with me anymore because I know I'll just loose that shit. *Of course if your using the photo's to score pussy, play on playboy/girl. That being said my man Tony did post some crazer photos from my b-day last week, but that's it... I swear! Look out for Pocket Checkers #3 February 7th!!! Always more dangerous than the last... In the meantime Los Angeles we've started a new Sunday Night Disco Party and last night was some of the most fun I've had since I moved to LA. The whole room was literally dancing from 10-2!!!

Hibbert dials long distance from the Verizon Center!!! First of all, I made that caption up, bitches call me Boy Genius for a reason, bitches. This shot had me screamin' "WHOOOOOW!!!!" like i was The Nature Boy Ric Flair! My man, Roy Hibbert, showing that all those hours spent shooting from behind the arc at Georgetown Prep (Bethesda, MD) paid off... Damn I can't wait to be in this man's entourage when he jumps to the Association. UConn, eat a dick, HOYAS are comin for you tonite Pitt!!!! Man, what a weekend ... Hibbert's trey, Celtics losing their 5th game to my Bullets, Tony Romo's annual playoff collapse, this one to my now-favorite-to-win New York Football Giants (Not throwing the ball away while trying to avoid the rush + throwing away the ball to nobody in an empty pocket + TO crying + Romo doing the Steve Spurrier-esque lowered head shake = priceless), not to mention Terminator: Sarah Connors Chronicles, and the 2nd episode of The Wire. Also, note to grown men out there, dont see that movie "The Orphanage," that scary shit had me coming out of the theater pissed, sayin' out loud "shieeet... I'm a grown-ass man!! had me all tense and shook like a little kid, man, fuck this shit!!"

From CNN: (CNN) – Former 2004 presidential hopeful Sen. John Kerry will endorse Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, two sources told CNN Thursday... "(Kerry) remains one of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party and (has) an e-mail list with millions of addresses," an Obama source said.
1. Take that John Edwards! That's some cold-blooded shit. "Sorry, my choice for Vice President... I kind of don't think you'd do a good job. I'm backing a winning horse. I'm behind Hidalgo over here." 2. What a windfall for the Obama camp that they now can add that precious, precious email list to their arsenal. I know that every time I get a mass email that tells me to vote for someone for president I do it blindly without thinking. I love how we live in a time when having a bunch of emails or myspace friends translates as being popular. All that remains now is Kerry getting an MTV reality show, "A Shot of Love with the Merry John Kerry" perhaps?
