as you know, i rarely post about product, but this particular book deserves some shine. i've always been a huge fan of Kevin Lyons, but opening up this book takes me back to freshman year at NYU, when indy hip-hop, skate, and clothing were in its commercial infancy. I can't help but think that his work (amongst others) indirectly led to the birth of things like the Lab.

here's a peek...

cotton bound cover... so lowkey, but perfect

klp-2.jpg
early Fourstar designs and some of my favorite shirts ever. They should reissue these. Kevin also did that Royal logo.

klp-3.jpg
one of the most effective music logos ever...

klp-4.jpg
KL is the undisputed king of the intelligent hip-hop shirt. here he flips Method Man's verse to shout out Huf.

klp-5.jpg
early 1994 design for Kingpin... goin off the Philly Blunts craze. What started streetwear? The Philly Blunt shirt or Stussy's 8 Ball?

klp-6.jpg
remember when those new broncos unis came out and how fresh they were? dude had a hand in it....

klp-7.jpg
some KL designs we used to have... don't sleep
