Basically my posts have been non-existent because I've been talking to girls and going out. I think I technically had a girlfriend for like a minute. FTY: NYU International Studies majors who do a lot of coke are trouble... stay away.

I think I might be into older hipster women now. I don't know, this is a feeling I've been dealing with as of late but I think I'm going to go with it. Basically if you're between 27 and 34 and like Siouxsie and the Banshee and are into the visual arts (excluding ceramics) I might want to holler. Get at me.

Anyways...

I went to the loft party where Lloyd was DJing at last Saturday. It was pretty awesome i.e. ladies everywhere dressed in prom attire. Incidentally this was a prom themed party held after some bike race. Some dude showed up naked with a car bumper... I didn't catch his story. I was just starting to mingle when the cops busted in and confiscated P-Gorgeous' ID. Shatterfest.

I ride a bicycle now and it's pretty awesome. It's one of P-Gorgeous' old Schwinns that was being kept in our clothing room. Out of all the bicycle riders I know Gonz and P-Gorgeous are the elite of elite bike dudes. Their rides are pretty serious.

As always: kind of joking but mostly serious,
David Pitts

P.S. I need to implement the phrase "girl I want to break you off" into my vocabulary and be able to say it with passion.

PP.S. A bit late I know but here's my 4/4 garage edit of "Throw Some D's:" Dr. Pitts "Throwin Crazy D's" You know this shit is big when PH is playing this non stop in the office all day. I was going for ironic yet playful.

BTW. this blog needs more dirt. its getting more and more cornball with every entry. i blame myself partly. even god needs a break guys. tho sometimes uncomfortable to read i kinda miss pitt's depressing diary like entrys.

that being said...a true story.
i once went to sleep so drunk i pissed on the girl i was sleeping with. lucky for me i woke up before she did which gave me enough time to shower, change my clothes, get back in bed, wake her up and blame it on her. she was mortified and now when ever she knows im in or coming to the same club shes at she immediately leaves.

said girl if youre reading this...im very sorry.

last week i got to dj this fashion event and dug out this edit and then mixed it into this remix. It got the female approval, so let me know how it goes.. you're welcome. On a semi related note I have been hearing some triple mash ups out lately, and well... I'm hoping things can progress beyond MJ vs JT vs Fiddy, right? May I suggest,, umm, Peter, Bjork & John Secada ? Also has anyone else noticed a genre on myspace called emotronica? I kinda like that.

As I mentioned before, I just got back from a week in CA doing some things for the release of the new issue of RE:UP (yes, I'll plug it again). Here are some picts...

marmont.jpg
Lunch at Chateau Marmont. Bloody Marys, Wine, all that highbrow shit. That's Peter aka Thanksgiving Brown, Jessica the photo editor, and me... Lindsay Lohan took the snap.

frosty.jpg
Frosty from Dublab played the LA party. He also gave us a ride home in his volvo.

willyvan.jpg
The mini van (recommended) we rented to drive up and down the coast, summoned The Gaslamp Killer to come.

willytrip.jpg
Nothing quite like a 6 hour dive with GLK in the car. No shortage of conversation here.

circus.jpg
SF was nuts... Somehow we ended up at an afterhours party hosted by circus performers / contortionists. I don't know... Appearantly, it was "Fleeky's" going away party?!?! Anaywhoo, DJ Balloon Knot thought it would be a good look to drop pants and do some stretches on the couch. Fuckin San Francisco... same old shit.

kirby.jpg
Kirby D kept the party going thru next morning..

Other highlights include bumping into Plug 1 at LAX, seeing Hollywood James put in the extra hard work at the Lab LA Store, In-N-Out about 6 times, The Turf Club in SD, catching up with folks at Stones Throw and Sound-In-Color, and of course, the highly touted Thanksgiving Brown single "going out to eat," which sounds phenomenal on a loud speaker.

Happy May you shit-asses! I know it's not technically May yet, but whatever, I made a vinyl mix to see if I still have the chops for it post-Serato (news flash: I don't). These are pretty much all records I've found recently b/c I've been unemployed and thus spend an inordinate amount of time shopping for records. It has a housier vibe this go-around, mixed in my bedroom while the sun was shining outside. Phermones are everywhere right now!

wow.

this reminds me of when i used to work at the lab. summer 04 to be exact. those were the days. strolling into work between 1030 and 11(schedualed at 930), myspacing most the day, packing 3 boxes an hour and talking shit...lots and lots of shit. i was the last to get there and the first to leave. i purposely didnt ask for my 2nd year raise cus i didnt want to have the "well, you havent done shit since you got here" talk. man those were the days! anyway, back then i had a radio in my bathroom and every morning id listen to the hot 97 morning show before work. i remember this show like it was yesterday. that summer everyone and their mother (myself included) was on the mad dash for summerjam tickets. turntable lab wasnt the over powering force they are today so back then average joes like myslef had to wait in line and/or smack each other fot tickets. enjoy.

by the way. see if yo can spot ashy larry's voice in the backround. ha.

Did anybody else witness what happened between Kaka and Giggs in the Champions League a couple days ago?? In what other sport can one athlete grab an opponent by the NECK and not get his ass RON ARTEST'ed!?!?!?!? Ron Artest did what he did cause he had a drink thrown at him. Imagine if the fan who threw it put his hand around Ron's NECK!!! Where were Giggs' teammates? I know Ronaldo would NEVER do anything to back up his fellow Red Devil, but I would have thought that Wayne Rooney would have been Giggs' Stephen Jackson, let alone Jermaine O'Neal!!!! I'm sorry to all my fans reading this in England, but you British people are pussies.

yeah, being from detroit, i've seen him a gazillion times...but this time he's doing his "one man spaceship" tour. now, i'm not entirely sure he'll replicate the insane setup he has going on in this picture, but even if he doesn't, he'll drop some serious knowledge on you.

TIESTO! began DJing professionally at school parties, and then moved on to become a resident DJ between 1985 and 1993 at several clubs in The Netherlands. During these years, TIESTO! produced hardcore/gabber tracks under the aliases Da Joker and DJ Limited. However, it was at the Spock[2], a small club in Breda, where TIESTO! was able to finetune his own style by playing in a separate room from 10 pm until 4 am on weekends. In the mid 1990s, TIESTO! started to produce trance, and in 1997 he and Arny Bink co-founded Black Hole Recordings to support his work. A series of singles were released under various aliases, such as Allure, Drumfire, Hammock Brothers, Paradise in Dubs, Passenger, Roze, Stray Dog, Tom Ace, and Wild Bunch.

TIESTO's! fame started to skyrocket in the late 1990s by playing at the first ID&T Innercity party, and in the early 2000s for his six-hour "TIESTO! Solo" sets which TIESTO! performed without other DJs or opening acts. This idea, of one DJ playing alone to a large crowd, was brought to its pinnacle when TIESTO! was the first DJ to hold a solo concert in a stadium. On May 10, 2003, he performed for over 25,000 people in Arnhem's Gelredome. Dubbed "TIESTO! in Concert", the event was an enormous success for Verwest. TIESTO! repeated this type of concert in the next year during two consecutive nights in late October. In addition to holding these two concerts for 35,000 of his fans, he held another for 20,000 in Hasselt, Belgium the week afterwards. DVDs of both his May 10 2003 and October 30, 2004 concerts have been released.

In 2007 TIESTO! will return to the large scale gigs, announcing the Elements of Life tour. Several dates have been confirmed so far. One in the Kings Hall in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom on 31 March and the other in the Ethias Arena in Hasselt, Belgium on 19 May. On May 31, June 1 and 2 2007 he will perform another three live shows at Gelredome in three consecutive nights.

As of April 6 2007 TIESTO! will start presenting a new weekly 2 hour radio show called "Club Nouveau" on Dutch radio station Radio 538 (stream @ www.radio538.nl). The show will be broadcasted on Friday night between 22.00 and midnight (GMT+1) and will supposedly also be available worldwide as a 2 hour podcast.(RECOMMENDED!)

TIESTO's! motto is: "I feel the energy from the crowd and I try to give it back."

VAL WHO?

C'mon now playboy, get your facts straight... Lloyd, I'm about to take you to class.....

Yes, he is a model.

Rick "The Model" Martel was truly ahead of the time. Absolutely nobody made any connection at the time to all the references he would make to sex. And what the hell is up with the obnoxious spray can of cologne???? He used to spray peeps with the shit in the eyez to blind the bitches. However, my most favorite thing about The Model is when he would be in the corner of the ring, dizzied and hanging on the turnbuckle after taking a beating, while his opponent would go across the ring to charge at him with a devastating blow, perhaps a flying splash or a clothesline. As the opponent nears The Model, just as the Boy Genius would, Rick Martel would not just run out of the way.... the motherfucker CARTWHEELED HIMSELF OUT OF THE WAY!!!! It only gets better... After the cartwheel, Martel would then proceed to do a series of traditional JUMPING JACKS in place, and then drop down to one knee and do a traditional two-arm flex pose, all to exhibit his quickness, agility, strength, and of course, his beauty. Yes ladies and gentlemen, HE IS A MODEL.

And who could really forget this pioneer......

"Ravishing" Rick Rude is like Grandmaster Flash to today's WWE. I used to think this guy was strange, way before I even knew what "gay" meant or what "homosexuality" was. Even so, none of this shit is gay, ITS GENIUS!!!!! Check out these classic trunk designs (mind you, he would have new specially designed ones each fight...

Bathing Ape, wha? I believe the "Ravishing One" started the 'all-over' print

This one is one of many similar... dude LOVED to have his face on his crotch, so he could gyrate his crotch in dudes faces.... once again, no homo, just showing off and disrespecting, no homo. In this case, he is actually doing it to a woman.

What was even better than his own face in his crotch is when he would put OTHER peoples faces on it. Remember when Jay-Z put the picture of Prodigy of Mobb Deep's picture of him doing some ballet shit on the big screen at HOT97's summerjam? Where do you think he got that idea from?? Pictured above is a picture of Rick kissing Miss Elizabeth, the WIFE of his opponent, Macho Man Randy Savage. "OOOOH YEEEAAAH!!!!" take that take that take that.

This design however, is my favorite. On his quest for the WWF Intercontinental Championship, Rick Rude produced this classic trunk on the EVE of the title match: a life-size airbrushed Intercontinental Championship Belt. When Rick Rude won the match, he put the belt around his waist, which sat above the airbrushed image, thus creating this cool visual effect.

And yes, that is an anchor tat on his right bicep... no homo.

(c) Marco Dos Santos

Justice came about in 2003, when Gaspard Auge (aka "The Moustache") and Xavier de Rosnay (aka "The China") met in the kitchen of a packed house party and found a mutual love for spitting beer in girls' hair. The two soon met Pedro Winter - notorious rainbow man and founder of Ed Banger Records - who was one of the first to hear their then-just-completed bedroom remix of Simian's "Never Be Alone." Like most of the people who would hear it over the next couple years, Pedro instantly loved the track, and as it spread far and wide, being spun by DJs like Soulwax, Miss Kittin, Tiga and Erol Alkan, and hated on (video-wise) by folks like Kanye West. Lab heads will pretty much know the story from there (Waters of Nazareth EP, crazy live shows, Ed Banger exploding), but Vice wanted us to pass along the info on the next big wave in the Parisian invasion: Justice's debut full-length will be released on July 10, and the title is...

(Don't ask us how to pronounce it.)

Check out the first single from the album, "D.A.N.C.E.," which is so good that we've heard several stories in the past few weeks about DJs bumping shitty low-bitrate web rips in their sets.

Justice - "D.A.N.C.E."

And of course, if you really cant't wait 'til July for yer Justice, you can get the new Ed Rec, Vol.2 comp RIGHT NOW, which includes the Justice track "Phantom."

it kinda going down this week.

i feel sorry for those unfortunate people who dont live in new york. tuesday we sing and thurday we dance. i enjoy being me.

...tuesday
SF_april10.jpg
this is without a doubt one of my favorite parties right now. i have the most fun here and im always the last to leave. youre either in or youre out with this one. oh, and the quality of trim at times is incredible. even im speachless. come.

...thursday
klasheflyermx8.jpg
easially four of the tallest djs in the world. i wouldnt be suprised if the average hieght was some where around 6'4. either way this this party is gonna be FUCKING HUGE! east vs west. new york vs la. lakers vs knicks. dodgers vs yankees. im sure you all already know whos gonna win. however i think it would be unfair to write off the west coasters just yet. may the best team win. game on. come.

also. be on the look out for my own party. i dont know where il do it or when. im not even sure who ill do it with. what i do know is this is a party for you. im putting you on. anyone can dj it. only rule is you cant use head phones. im so done with head phones. the whole me vs. them dj attitude is so lame to me. instead of djing for the people why not try with the people. im sure theyll be a couple trial run partys here and there before the official jump. youll be the first to know.

always and forever

Ps. i guess i should say something funny now...huh?

From about 1988 to the end of high school in 94, I was an official hip hop purist in the land of twinkies (Tollgate HS where you at)... buying, dubbing and thieving anything I could get my hands on- from Mr Lee to Poison Clan me and my big brother had EVERYTHING. Anyway, like a lot of people, I lost interest somewhere around 95-96 and never really looked back. At first I was into the "classics" partys in NY but now the idea of a "92" party or some shit makes me want to put my head through a wall- I thought we had finally reached the point where it was safe to go out and not hear DWYK? I still like a lot of new stuff that comes out, and it even gets some itunes burn from me, but the early 90s stuff has been dead to me for a long fucking time.

And the point of all this? Go to Stretch Armstrong's blog and download that Nas demo. Un fucking real. Just magic magic magic. Maybe not so much for those of you that didnt spend your 16th summer blunted, getting coochie and arguing about what the best song on Illmatic was... but yeah that's that shit.
