There's a new addition to the Turntable Lab / Money Studies familia... FOOL'S GOLD is the new label from A-Trak and Catchdubs, and Catchdini says he wants it to be "the modern version of what labels like Sleeping Bag and Nervous were doing back in the 80s and early 90s. They would put out house records and freestyle records at the same time as Black Moon or some experimental Arthur Russell shit, and it all made sense.”
First up is the Control single from Chicago's Kid Sister, and it's and it's a pretty frickin' good start -- "Control" is produced by XXXchange, and "Damn Girl" on the flip is produced by A-Treezy with a juke remix from DJ Gant-Man!! There's gonna be a single from A-Trak with blends off his new Dirty South Dance mixtape, an EP from Gant-Man, a single from GLC, some stuff from Cool Kids (who you need to hear if you haven't)... needless to say, we're pretty geeked. You can check out some upcoming sounds at the label's MySpace page, and keep your eyes on the daily 'cause that first 12" is right around the corner... (Oh yeah and it's goin' down at SXSW next week...)
