read of the moment: new autobiography from Dat Nguyen, the first NFL player of Vietnamese descent and recently retired Dallas Cowboy. Hate the Cowboys, but I gotta give this guy some respect. Undersized middle linebacker whose family came from Vietnam during the war and ended up in a immigrant camp in Texas. Somehow Dat climbed his way up Texas high school football, became one of Texas A&M's finest linebackers, and earned all-pro honors in the NFL. I am really curious to see how much shit he went through playing a sport that Asians are not associated with, and all the rascism that came along with it. I'm only a chapter into it (so far Dat's gotten a death threat letter from a redneck and his family escaped the communists by fishing boat to Thailand). the writing is kinda melodramatic and very pc, but the story makes up for it.
